Yes actually..after extensive discussion with Gary Gygax on this, as
pertains to the AD&D and Dungeons and Dragons world, all
female dwarves did have beards.

They were never meant to be 'cute' and 'comely'..and thats how the male
dwarves like them.The female dwarves LOOK masculine
and tough. Which is why if you stick strictly to the rules and how it was
meant to be, it would be an abnormal dwarf that
goes lovin' a human or an elf or some other race like that and finding them
attractive. It just wouldn't happen normally. The
lack of hair, the smooth features and lithe (in comparison) bodies would be
a major turnoff.
