Taped glasses

Has anyone ever taped up their broken eye glasses?  I remember doing it in high school and college and recently 2 weeks ago (till my manager was like, BROB, go to walgreens and get some screws!).  I did it cos it was an easy fix and the tape didn't bother me.

And 3 days ago I find out it's a nerd phenomenon (from a slashdot post)
