A woman on her way to weekly church service possibly saves a girl's life. Police
say the girl was being beaten by her estranged father.
It happened at the Park on Goldfield Apartments on the Northeast side around
2:00 p.m.
A resident who doesn't want us to use her name was on her way to church when she
saw what was going on. "We saw him grab her by her hair."
Police say the man was not wearing any clothes when he showed up at his
ex-girlfriend's home, broke a window, then grabbed his three year old girl by
the hair.
"Everytime we would go toward him, he would grab her by the hair again," the
neighbor tells us, "and he was dragging her...We picked up a bunch of big rocks,
and so we got up on here in front of Skyview and we hit him with the rocks."
When police showed up, they arrested the father and charged him with injury to a
child.
The little girl is doing fine. The suspect also hit three other people during
the scuffle. They'll all be okay, as well.
Police are investigating why the man went on this rampage. They are trying to
determine if he was on drugs at the time.
