No, I really am overqualified for the job.  They knew that when they hired
me.  This is all about age, and possibly internal politics at the firm.   I
suspect I got caught in a pissing match between the CEO and the VP, or a
debate over image versus qualifications.

My desire is to find a job where I can just do DBA stuff or write code.  I
don't want all the stress of management, team leader, etc.  I told them I
just want to sit in the corner and write code.  But once you've done all
the other stuff, no one ever believes you will be happy with a lesser
position.   I got a divorce.  I needed the security of weekly paycheck and
medical benefits.  But I guess it's not to be.

So I guess I'll just go back to contracting, where no one seems to care how
many gray hairs you have as long you get the work done.
