He was the first figurehead president. The man himself was an amiable dunce, appealing and in many ways admirable in that he really believed the values he projected.
Those same values were in fact horribly perverted while he was in power, but nonetheless. He *did* revitalize the country in some ways, dare I say it. He reintroduced the concept of personal responsibility, and that was a good thing. What the government did with that concept while he was in power is another matter, and that in my view was his fatal flaw. Grandiose concepts, terrible execution.
