My friend had an almost perfect commentary on all the Reagan hoopla.
"The US needs a hero. And the damn horse didn't win." The only thing
wrong with the comment is that I didn't think of it.
The US is in need of a hero. And to be a hero you need a villain.
We fondly remember back to the good old days when times were simpler and
the Soviets were the genuine enemies.
Not because they were evil, but because they were a worthy adversary.
No one roots for a bully. One man symbolized all that - Rocky Balboa. But
President Reagan came in a close second.
We don't have any more sports heros.
The Yankees (go Yanks) are a bunch of mercenaries.
The Lakers are a 7 foot behemoth that no one can relate to and a rape
defendant.
We definitely don't have any political heros.
As a registered democrat I hate to say this, but McCain would have been a
great candidate this year.
Except he lost last year.
