I've never subscribe to cf-newbie (by the time I found out there was
one, I wasn't anymore) but I understand it's a very low-volume list.
For technical stuff, you should subscribe to cf-talk. It's pretty
high-volume and, unfortunately, every once in a while there's a scathing
remark made to a newbie question, but for the most part it's an
excellent technical resource. This list, by comparison, is basically a
place to goof off.
To learn CF, I would first suggest that you write the code without the
assistance of DW. HS+ is excellent for this. I only really use DW for
laying out complex tables and other HTML-y tasks, but that's me.
The references that shipped with CF are pretty good. If you don't have
access to them, they're online at
http://livedocs.macromedia.com
O'reilly has a decent CF book as well. There are good tutorials and
whatnot at
http://www.easycfm.com
as well.
But, IMHO, the best way to learn CF is to just play with it and see what
all the cool features are.
