The somewhat infamous and non-embedded journalist Robert Fisk said in a
recent interview that he sees a direct link between the war in Iraq and the
end of the Cold War. He stated that the Iraq invasion was less about oil
(although it was also about oil) than it was about the need for a single
superpower to show off it's strength. Of course there is nothing brave and
mighty about a giant swatting a fly (talking about relative might and not
the character of those involved) and that is where the response of revulsion
of men like Jimmy Massey comes in. Anyways, I thought it was a particularly
sharp observation. He talked about standing at the side of the road when an
American troop force moved through and being totally in awe of the firepower
and the scale of things...

If we want to be that way, then we have to damn well start acting like it.
In other words we have to start acting like how we want to be thought of,
instead of just talking about it and think that will be enough.
