My in-laws have a cat and we were worried when my first baby was born. Then we discovered that their cat is _Petrified_ of babies -- runs away from them in total fear. Something about a baby's cry, I guess. Then when the babies become toddlers, and the cat sees them as human beings rather than strange crying things, she becomes all friendly and plays with them like another child.
And the best part is, they get to play with the cat, and we don't have to take her home!
Will you have to train your ferrets in how to deal with the baby?
