I do not see it as fighting, but I do read this thread as a number of very
intelligent people with opposing views. Some express themselves in varying
ways, but I still do not regard it as fighting.
There are people on here who obviously do not think for themselves, and others
that do just that.
Hopefully, while I doubt many minds are being changed, I would hope that each
reader would take on a modicum of skepticism and not necessarily believe the
spin by one media commentator or another.
Remember, each media "personality" has an agenda, and their views will usually
exhibit that. If after considering all the evidence, you also accept that spin,
so be it. Rest assured not everyone will agree with your position. As for
F-9/11 you may not reach the same conclusion as Michael Moore did, and that is
solely up to you. I do believe that a documentary such as that one has its
place in history, if not the author's conclusions. That is what makes a
democracy.
When a writer backs up their viewpoint with facts, no matter whether they are in
or out of context they are to be considered as anyone else should be.
Attacking the messenger instead of the message is usually a last resort when the
supporting facts cannot be refuted. Many messengers are doing just that both
attacking and being attacked. Perhaps none of their conclusions should be
accepted at face value, remember each has an agenda which may or may not
coincide with your views.
As for me, any posts I make to this thread are my opinion, and my opinion alone.
I should be encouraged to provide whatever is needed to support my view, and I
can be termed as in error when I consider only one side of an issue. I also
tend to play devil's advocate when I see a post that is so obviously one-sided
(that is, the views expressed by an entertainer, a drug addict, or someone else
are just being extolled, with no background support)
In short, I am of the opinion that the Bush Administration, and the
congressional leadership should be voted out of office as soon as possible, and
additionally the new Attorney General be instructed to indict them for their
corruption and falsehoods, and bring them to justice. I am still idealistic
enough to expect my elected representatives to represent my views, or at least
the views of the majority, as opposed to representing only the views of the
greedy fat cats who buy access to the process. I am of the opinion that the
so-called Patriot Act should be allowed to expire. I am of the opinion that the
Bush tax-cuts should be also allowed to expire, at least until the national debt
is brought under control. I don't think it is fair to force the middle classes
to have their futures mortgaged to enrich a few. I am of the opinion that all
Catholic Bishops who advocate withholding the sacraments to anyone who opposes
the current administration should be declared persona-non-gratis and deported in
an expedited way. I am under the opinion that honesty and ethics has a very
real place in politics, corporate board rooms and among the general populace. I
will not take the space here to list all the links to information, both for and
against, as most of them have already been posted. In the final analysis, I
urge all that are eligible to register to vote, and then make the effort to be
counted on election day. In this way will the majority be represented. Let the
cookies fall where they may.
So there :-)

Thanks
It would help the political arguments if the bashing was based on actual
facts rather than hear-say or insulting the person because of personal
political and social views.
Most of them are
If Clinton would have done the same thing Bush did, a lot of Americans who
oppose the war, would support it.
I think you are in error with that opinion.
I think all of us should work on getting people to see/hear our point of
view without fighting.
I see this as being done.
You guys seem like intelligent, informed citizens. I am "smart" enough to at
least listen to your views and raise an eyebrow.
Congratulations - I have confidence in your analytical ability.
But I won't be able to hear your views if everyone is argumentative and
insulting.
I don't read this as happening.
