For that matter Neil, what if the person was running for the leadership of
the Labour or Conservative parties in England, or in Canada, with an eye on
becoming Prime Minister in the next general election. I imagine that the
same thing would happen, the person of afgan decent would not get very far.
For the record mind you, the premier (sort of like a governor) of the
Canadian province of British Columbia was born in India.
