<unchecked rumors>
I was told that all the principals were originally signed for a 3 movie
deal before they shot Spiderman 1.

Tobey was not only the perfect fit for Peter Parker but as a relative
unknown was very cheap.  I can maybe see a Spiderman 4 but nothing beyond
that as the cost of the movie would start to spiral out of
control.  Spiderman 2 was officially budgeted at 200M.  I don't know if
that includes the marketing cost or not, but it is still a huge
sum.  Tobey's pay package is rumored to be in the 7-9 million range without
royalties; peanuts considering how much Spiderman 1 and 2 have
grossed.  Imagine how much 4 or 5 would cost when know you have to give
Tobey a fair market pay package plus royalties.

If anyone knows of a website that has the deal's behind the movies I would
love to know.
