There is a big difference between 5k and 13k

But the justification, comes in terms of the number of lives saved in the
future. If we base everything we ever do solely on current perceptions or
current numbers, how can we ever affect the course of the human race?

If we take a few lives now, how many can we save in the future?

Even conservative figures elsewhere put civilian casualties over 5k.
That still beats the WTC death toll. Where's our justifiability again?
