It won't last 3 years though. Video card hardware never does. The
release of a new GPU has almost always been followed by a ramped up
revision in about 6-9 months. The R350/9800 design came out in March
of 2003, just over a year ago. Then the 9800xt came out in October,
just 5 months later.

But suppose it does last for 3 years. The 9800 can still be considered
playable. At $500 over 3 years, that's still $167/year. And of course,
that's decreasing playability over that 3 years as games increase in
demands.

I still want one though.
