Less Cheer (But Hope) Over Social Security Issue
We weren't so cheerful a littler earlier, though, when Rosemary called over
from our Capitol Hill offices and let us know we lost the vote in the House
Appropriations Committee 20-26 this afternoon.
You all have been phoning the Members of the Committee for two days, urging
them to vote for the amendment from Rep. Goode (VA). It would have
forbidden the Social Security Administration from using any money to carry
out a "Totalization Agreement" with Mexico that would give billions of
dollars in regular Social Security benefits to illegal aliens from Mexico.
