According to their website, olympics.org, their 5 main streams of revenue
are broadcase, TOP Programme, Domestic Sponsorshop, Ticketing, and
Licensing to a tune of a cool 4,264 Million US Dollars (both Salt Lake and
Athens). Of course some of the money has to be funnelled back to various
expenditures. But it looks like 4.5M is a small sum. Plus companies get
to say Exclusive Sponsor of the 2004 Athen's Game. Doubt they would
sponsor something without getting something back.
I give it about 10 more Games before the torch is official changed to the
Official Olympic Torch Sponsored by Coca Cola.
