Agreeing with you:
(1) Tony Bennett's line in I Left My Heart in San Francisco:
"the morning fog may chill the air"
<whaddya mean "may", Tony?>
(2) Mark Twain's quote
"The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco"
As a native who grew up near the beach in SF proper, shivering in the
drizzle all summer, I hear you. But I now live in an inland suburb just 25
miles NE, where in summer it's typically in the 90's F and dry.
More variability in the regional weather here than anywhere else I know
of...

I've only been to San Fran once (in mid-summer) and it was misty and windy,
I don't think it's known for cracking the stones with heat?
