dogs on the street. LEASHED dogs, a couple of greyhounds,
non-aggressive, when an unleashed dog came flying out of a yard and went
for his greys. On the STREET. The guy attempted to protect his dogs and
kicked the other dog in his chest - to get him away from them. He did
not do damage to the dog (no vet care was done) - but the owner of the
dog saw it happen and sued the guy walking his dogs on a leash.
The unleashed dog's owner won.
I do not know any more particulars than that - though it was a long and
drawn out story on the list several months ago (I'd have to go look it
up).
I think you BETTER just file a police report anyway. It may seem like a
waste of time - but better to be safe than sorry.
And for what it's worth - from a devoted dog owner - you were not the
one at fault here. I truly despise neglible dog owners - and letting
your dog roam loose around the neighborhood is in my eyes - no matter
where you live - negligible.
But that's a whole other debate.
