sure. The head of the CIA enlists a "squeky-clean" congressman to run for
president. He has him run on a platform based solely on strengthening
defense. Scaring people into believing that the world was unsafe and that
the US is at risk. He then "allows" some attack on America to happen and
now this previously unknown politician who has been "predicting" this
suddenly becomes popular and eventually gets elected. The politician is
essentially a pawn of the CIA chief. In the book, the CIA chief talks about
having another big attack happen shortly before election day which will
pretty much guarantee his election because the American people will elect
him as a knee jerk reaction. It goes on to talk about how he, the CIA guy,
will quiet things down afterwards which will make it look like the new
president is responsible. Just so you know, this isn't even what the book
is really about. It's actually a sub plot. like I said, I'm not one for
conspiracy theories, but if this were true, how scary is that. What if
there were someone who had the ability to stop this, but chose not to in
order to satisfy some other agenda? Again, I don't think this is the case
AT ALL here. It's jut one of those things that make you go "Hmmm?"

Respectfully,

Michael
