and a sign they are taking this seriously) so did not have to go to
the ER.
Problem was, I was already a week into a course of Augmentin. They
were considering stopping the interferon. Still are. Have been told
under no circumstances to take more without having the arm looked at
again. (White blood cell count very low at the moment.)
But.
The decision yesterday was that gee, if antibiotics aren't working
(and apparently if Augmentin isn't working then no antibiotic will)
then... drum roll ... maybe it isn't an infection. Been taking massive
doses of ibuprofen since yesterday, instead of the Percosset (sp?) and
it seems to be working. Redness is almost gone and pain is less. They
have me still taking the Augmentin just in case. They are worried
about the white blood cell count and the fact that *whatever* is going
up my arm.
So, they were wrong, it looks like, but they erred on the side of
treating the cause that could kill me. I have no problem with that.
Google says these things *can* be caused by infection.

So all is well I think and really I can't fault the medical treatment
I have received. I appreciate all the concern.

What a total bummer. Hope it clears up soon. Um...does your city have
more than one hospital?
