Not sure why you see the need to slam him for getting out there, enjoying himself and getting in his exercise. Doesn't sound to me like he was too embarrased by wiping out. I know that I've gone over the handle bars more than enough times to appreciate the complexities of navigating a steep downslope littered with rocks.
