blank screen with some message saying "DVI-D Can not display this
mode". This has happened before and after jiggling cords, tapping the
screen, etc (which sometimes seem to work) I tried to log in to my
system blind since I've noticed that system activity seems to
kickstart it into turning on. Unfortunately, I apparently had flubbed
the login too many times because when the monitor did indeed flick on,
I was getting a message that my account was now locked. Of course, our
lan administrator is at a security conference and the boss is on
vacation so nobody could help get it re-enabled.
So I commiserate with some coworkers and, since I was planning on only
working a half day and it's nice out, decide to take the whole day
off. Suddenly the lan admin shows up. Weird. I sit down to show him
how I'm locked out of the system, and the timeout on the lock expires
and I can get back in. So now I'm here trying to decide if it's better
to go home anyway before something else happens, or if I should make
the most of it and get some stuff done since I'm here.
Wheee.
