Oh, ain't that the truth. It's 2:11 AM, and I'm still at the office. I
have worked 80 hours this week already, with no end in sight.
We have finally made a strategic decision about recovery from Nimda. We're
going to build the servers ourselves and put them in a secure co-lo
facility locally so we have total control of them.
No more "managed data centers" with servers put together by people who can
barely handle tinker toys. No more SLA's that don't require users on the
network to install patches. No more waiting on hold for support from some
pimpled kid who can barely spell computer. Industrial strength
connectivity straight into the pipe, and a server that only I have the keys
to, with all the blocking, scanning and trapping software I can install
without compromising performance.
Biggest headache will be redirecting the domains, and re-installing the ssl
certs.
I never, ever will do this again. I'll retire first and live in trailer park.
Or open a shop selling black leather and sunglasses.
