I don't have a problem accepting the argument, if the US has changed its views on the subject.

It's like a smoker who quits smoking. They often become the most rabid anti-smokers. That doesn't make them hypocrites, it makes them converts.

I think It would only be two-faced is the US said - "You can't do it, but we can.", which I don't see is the case here.
