I told myself that I wouldn't get involved today because my exchange with
Sam yesterday left me a little sour, but I can't help myself.

This election is going to heat up and it will become rather important.  We
have many global and national issues at hand, many of them about the
economy.  The Senate race is also going to be interesting because under
Senator Corzine's leadership, the Democratic money machine is experiencing
success that only a year ago seemed impossible.  The Reps still hold an
advantage but it is no longer an unsurmountable advantage.  Why is this
important?  Well to me it's important because Kerry's promises would ring
hollow if the Reps still controlled the Senate.

That said, I read an article that historically the US has experienced the
best economic growth when the Senate and Presidency is controlled by the
opposing parties.  I'm not sure there is enough data for this since the
article just provides Reagan and Clinton as evidence.  But there is
something to be said that a gridlock would hamper both parties from running
the country into the ground.
