somehow conspiring to make us all fat is just annoying. McDonalds sells
exactly what people want to buy - that's all they do.
People want more food and so we get "supersize". Catholics didn't eat at
Micky D's during lent and so the McFish was born. A lot of people were
asking if they could get a regular meal with a happy-meal toy for their
older kids, so the "Mighty Kids Meal" appears. People want to eat healthy,
enter the salads and yogurts. You can attack them for being whores, but not
for having some secret unhealthy agenda.
For what it's worth I spent my teen years working at McDonalds. Everybody
should work there for a while, I think. Cooperation, cleanliness and
quality are huge parts of their philosophy. There are manuals and schedules
for cleaning every single thing in the restaurant (instructions for cleaning
door lintels twice a week such that the dust doesn't fall for example).
I remember "Founders Day" - every year on Ray Kroc's birthday all management
and corporate offices close and the upper management work for a day in the
restaurant cooking food, taking orders, etc. Now that's something I'd like
to see a few other companies mimic.
And since I was working there I did pretty much eat there every meal. for a
lot longer than a month. I didn't turn into the fat bastard that I am today
until much later. ;^)
(Oh, and as an aside: I've also worked at Burger King. I won't eat there at
all - take that for what it's worth. ;^) )

What exactly does McDonald's have to do with nutrition?
Maybe, just bad nutrition...
