Speaking of sites, one of my favourite sites is http://www.mudcat.org. You
will find an interesting community and and a colection of resources for all
kinds of traditional music. And it's written in ColdFusion! :)
I hope you can find yourself a teacher down there somewhere. Even if he/she
is not a pure blegrass person. The social side of learning music can be a
great pleasure, as I am learning late in life :)

Advice: Build your calluses. ;-)
There are many mandolin communities on the net, with many being about
bluegrass mandolin... Mandolin Cafe, I think Grisman's old Mandozine may
still be on... to avoid hits from album-selling sites, try google terms
like "mandolin playing tips" or "mandolin tablature" and so on.
For more fun, try terms like "ballo liscia" or "jacob do bandolim" or "dave
apollon" and so on.
