Many a time I see people here who have very negative feelings towards religion and the Bible. While I know that the Torah is true, I have stopped arguing about it (except in certain cases) because I realize that I won't be able to sway the minds of people who are so dead set against it.
I pick and choose my battles.
In terms of party politics, I'm one of those people who are "independents" (except that I chose to be Democrat so I could have some vote in the Democratic primaries, as I think it's important to influence not just who gets chosen in the election, but who gets nominated as a candidate.) I'm probably more centrist than most people here, and yes, if I sat and debated the politics more some would call me right wing.
It's not that we need a mediator. It's that sometimes the arguments just can't be resolved.
For what it's worth, I also believe that most of the mainstream media is biased to the left, and talk radio is biased to the right. Dana asked me what I consider an unbiased source and I have to admit it's giving me pause.
I'll probably be able to come up with a better answer tonight, when I've had a chance to think about it more.
