New York Times:
Iraqi Conference on Election Plan Sinks Into Chaos
By JOHN F. BURNS
The conference was thrown into disorder by delegates staging protests against
the U.S.-led military operation in Najaf.
Chicago Tribune:
Iraqis gather under fire
By Liz Sly
Iraq to a shaky step toward democracy Sunday, convening a national conference
in the shadow of renewed violence in Najaf...
The Times article focuses the reader on the negative aspects of what is going
on while the Tribune article focuses on the positive aspects. Subtle, both
true, but clearly leaving the ready with a different understanding of what the
situation is. This is why we all must have multiple sources of information
and must read to understand views of those we oppose. This is also why the
dialogue such as what we have on this list is critical for all of us to be
truly informed about what is going on and why.
Hope everyone as a great week.
Andy
