I wonder if that isn't why this crackpot theory gets me so upset.  Usually I can take these theories with a grain of salt, smile benignly and walk away shaking my head.  But, for some reason when I hear this particular theory I want vigorously shake somebody and explain the idiocy of this.

One of the passengers, Barbara Olsen, was a well-known TV personality and author. She was on her mobile phone with her husband, Ted Olsen, a well known Washington attorney and also TV news show guest, when the plane hit the Pentagon.

Mr. Olsen shared his account of the story on TV in the days after 9/11. As you point out, his wife and the other passengers on that plane didn't just vanish into thin air, they died in the crash. This kind of crackpot stupidity is an insult to their memory and to the loved ones they left behind.
