I imagine he'll be fine -- it seems to have mostly run its course
after landfall south of Melbourne (which is east of Orlando) and north
of Palm Beach (I believe the eye hit Stuart head on). There was enough
wind at the office where I work for me to not want to be in that area
(southern Ft Lauderdale), although the development server still has
power and internet access. Where we are in Hollywood (south of I-595)
we fortunately didn't get more than a little wind and rain. We had a
couple brown outs, but no black outs (our power line must be stronger
than it looks). I still kept all our equipment at the house unplugged
through most of it. Better safe after all. We're apparently in the
middle of a high-wind cell right now but we seem to be pretty stable.
The reporters are the sort of stupid people Foxworthy says should be
carrying signs. They stand around in areas that have been evacuated
while street lights and crap are falling on the street next to them
and continue to broadcast as though they have some moral obligation to
provide us with visuals of the beach, information that's not at all
useful to us, and stories of their youth (from previous hurricanes --
which they could provide from a safe location). The one girl from
Channel 4 seemed to be having some strange cathartic event yesterday
-- every time we put on channel 4 she seemed to be talking about her
childhood.
