It is true that a story made of true statements can be false. The Bush
administration has greatly educated me on this subject :)

It's hard to debate the movie with you since you haven't seen it, but
I phrased that sentence that way because there was some hand-to-hand
fighting here on the list when it came out regarding whether this
statement or that was false. And also because I still really hesitate
to subscribe to the movie's central premise, that Bush is bought and
paid for and makes no effort to govern the country according to its
best interests. I'd prefer to think him misguided and misadvised :)

Dana,

This is not really you, is it?
I have yet to find a statement made in Fahrenheit 9/11 that was not true.
This  doesn't reflect any of the subtleties that I respect in you.  Just
because each individual statement may be true if taken in isolation, that does
not make the entire picture a valid depiction of the truth.  For example:

Andy yelled at his son, Hunter, while coaching him in soccer.  Hunter ran away
crying and no longer plays soccer.

If read as written, this implies that Hunter quit soccer because his mean old
man yelled at him during practice.  This is not true.  I have yelled at Hunter
when I was the coach - it was encouragement during a game.  Hunter has also
been hurt and has cried, and once, when he didn't want me to see him cry, he
ran away.  Lastly, Hunter stopped playing soccer (and lacrosse and basketball)
because he doesn't like the schedule forced upon him by a sport.  So while
each individual statement is without a doubt true, in totality, the picture
painted is false.

That said, I am waiting for 9/11 to come out in Video, then I'll watch it and
frame an opinion.
