I think "one hit" often referred to (or does refer to) a single album
-- so in some cases they had severl popular songs all at once before
fading into obscurity.

One Night in Bankok and Died In Your Arms are a couple of my personal
favorites also... West End Girls and one or two other songs by the Pet
Shop Boys. Whereas with today's grunge it's mostly the lyrics I like,
during the 80's it was mostly the music itself. Though Silent Running,
Kyrie, In the Living Years, No One Is To Blame, Dead Heart and some
others did have some phenomenal lyrics.

Who remembers Don't Dream Its Over? Love that song -- mostly for the
music -- I would say the lyrics are phenomenal - they certainly do
conjure up images in my head... I'm just not sure what the artist was
trying to say. :)
