One of the people in my organization just went down into the datacenter and turned off one of my production servers- a server running a payment-based Web application, so they could change a power cable.
They neglected to tell anyone they were going to do this. I found out the hard way. Someone was running an import process in the background on the site, and (of course) it failed when the server went down. Not to mention that the customers were unhappy at having a down system. This is a brand new server that we just deployed to on Friday, and the fool who did this was the same person who said it would be ok to go live without load balancing "just for a few days".
So now I am sharpening stakes and preparing my torches for the moment when I go lay seige to this idiot's office.

That felt good. :-)
