I'm on the fence about it. it'll be hard to go into things without spoiling,
but I'll try.

In general it steered more towards the traditional comic storyline with the
introduction of Lois (that's not a spoiler since it was all over the
commercials, right.  ;^)  ).  The actress for Lois seemed fine. but I'll
reserve judgment until I see more of her.  Some of the dialog with her was
just plain bad (I thought) but they do seem to driving the character in the
right direction (although personally it would be nice if either Clark or
Lois started to show some real interest in journalism).

At the same time the plot line with Jor El is really moving off on its own -
there's not much like it in the comics except for the old "Eradicator"
plots.  I'm also not thrilled with the "dual personality" thing - it just
strikes me as way to divergent from the comic and a little silly.  I'm also
not thrilled that they're turning Kryptonians in "little green men"
responsible for ancient accomplishments and such.

I'm not happy about the ending. I had really hoped that plot would have
dead-ended long ago and now it looks like it'll just keep on going.

I was also not happy to see the narrative split so much - we've now got two
main stories (Clark and Lana) and two sub stories (Lex and Lionel) going. I
would like to see Lana and Lionel just cut loose personally.

On the positive side I was happy to see the recovery - that's one aspect of
the modern comics I like a lot.  It was interesting to see Margo Kidder
(even as horribly, terribly bad as she looked) although her little package
just annoyed me.

I guess I'd just really like to see the series get moving. get these "kids"
into careers, into the city.  If they really didn't want to ever introduce
Superman into the series then they should have started out with Clark at age
10 or so - getting into things at age 18 means Superman sooner or later!

Jim, let me know what youthink of Smallville. I was thought it had
some pretty darn cool parts, but some cheesy parts as well. I won't
post any spoilers though. :)
