Sure - but not on the same page.  But you can definitely pass a JS variable
to a CF page, have some work done, then get a response back for JS to use
(all without refreshing the page).

My technique is useful, but simplistic.  If you want to do this "right" (or
at least lots more better) then check out the links at the bottom of the
