Im an admitted Snopes junky....probably because its more than just a cross reference. They tell you why, when, by whom, the history, etc....and its very well written. If i see something suspect, i check Snopes. I admit it.
I'm MUCH more bothered by the people who don't verify junk claims before sending them on to friends with titles like "This might not be true, but just in case"
ugh....hate those.

God i still hate snopes. Something about them just rubs me the wrong way.
"Hi we're snopes! We want to be the end all be all for helping people
figure out if something is a myth." Then you get the people who
whenever they read something run right to snopes to check if god err
snopes says its untrue. I guess it's an irrational pet peeve. Not
really about anyone here one of my damn friends does it way more then
anyone here. It seems like as anyone talks to him he cross checks it
with snopes for their seal of approval.
Argh.
