Dogs mounting other dogs as a show of dominance does not necesarily mean that either animal is truly Homosexual.
Neither is the percentage of a group of a particular gender that exhibit charecteristics of the opposite set when forced to live
together without the oppurtunity to mate/copulate with the opposite sex, as in Prison. Whilst the majority of prisoners may have/be
forced into homosexual activities, it doesn't mean that they are homosexual.
Which is interesting, since when discussing homosexuality in humans it is always argued that a Human being simply has no choice but
to be homosexual, since it is an entirely Gene driven behaviour.
Choice, preference and free will doesn't seem to apply when it comes to this animal's sexuality. And yet it forms the basis of most
other aspects of that animal's behaviour set.
But in Sexuality there is no choice, only animalistic, genetically driven Instinct.
I find this curious.

Not necessarily... If homosexuality is determined via a collection of
chromosomes rather than an individual chromosome, then the material
which helps to make ape x gay is also shared by one or both of ape-x's
parents and if ape-x has any siblings those siblings would also carry
them.
Or were you asking only about the genetic material directly from the
animal which appears to be gay?
This whole conversation is so gay. :P
Incidentally -- I've been told that it's not uncommon for male dogs to
mount other male dogs purely as a power trip -- an attempt to ensure
that they are on the top of the pecking order amongst other agressive
male dogs... I would imagine that's much like prison... So maybe if
there is a gay gene(s) there's also an a**hole gene(s)... hrm...
