Kristol, the author or the article, is head of the "Project for the New American Century" and the media voice of the Washington "Vulcans" that espouse an American military hegemony ruling the world starting with the overthrow of Iraq. Yay! That's the new century? Sounds like Helen Thomas wasn't too far off when she opined that re-electing Bush would mean a century of war without end.
The Weekly Standard is hemmoraging money and only exists because its a Republican mouthpiece to a measly circulation of about 60,000. So what does all that have to do with the quoted text right from the Washington Post? The key words in the quote are "false presumption that we can affect the outcome", but through the filter of the conservative fear of Kerry, they know that their choir will read it as "United Nations effort blah blah blah blah" and then they quickly misdirect people past the "false presumption" part and make a non-sequitor leap to the permission slip nonsense. If Kerry had said dying for the UN is fine but dying for the US is not, then I would totally agree with the piece. But he didn't. He specifically used the conditional situation that it is a "false presumption" that Americans are dying for. And no matter how you slice it, dying for a lie is a tragedy. And what is a "Clinton-Lieberman Democrat"? They are so different it's mindboggling. Tying them together is obviously a mind game by Kristol to sway the weak minded. -Kevin On Wed, 20 Oct 2004 18:34:23 -0700 (PDT), Sam Morris <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > http://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/Public/Articles/000/000/004/804suggy.asp ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Purchase from House of Fusion, a Macromedia Authorized Affiliate and support the CF community. http://www.houseoffusion.com/banners/view.cfm?bannerid=38 Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:131944 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
