If you're worried about a 'dirty bomb' you really don't have to be. Unless it was an actual tactical nuclear device most people don't have to worry.
Scientists have actually said that the effects on your average person that would be exposed to radiation from a 'dirty bomb' would be minimal, even if exposed for a year.
