I started measuring things earlier this year after some frustrating w/ inconsistent results.
I never thought of cooking it w/ butter directly. I'll have to try that sometime. I'll often throw in some salt (I usually eyeball it) with the oil. I also picked up a "Butter-salt" type of substance at Sam's club. Sometimes I'll use that, but I'm not a big fan of it. I'll usually add additional seasoning at the end. Salt and Butter are the obvious choices. I've also used pepper and garlic powder. My memory tells me that the one time I had Kettle Corn microwave pop-corn I hated it. And to Larry, yeah dad's device was conceptually like JiffyPop, but it wasn't Jiffy pop' the device thing wasn't disposable. I'm guessing that device was closer to what Michael was explaining.
