I spent five years in Roanoke, and in other parts of southwest Virginia. Used to live in a converted mill that was originally built in 1842. the mill was outside of a small town called Fincastle. Great place, during the fall the colours were amazing. The neighbours were quite interesting too. If your family had not been there since the early 1800's you were considered an immigrant. Having recently come from Canada they didn't know what to make of me.
