I have an ATI card here at work with dual displays and windows maximize to just one or the other. And with the ATI Hydravision software (similar to nview) I can right-click on a window's title bar and select to switch to Monitor 1 or Monitor 2. The only app I have problems with that in is Firefox, so FF must be doing something non-standard with their windows routines.
