Jews are not supposed to have any contact with women other than their wives
(or immediate family). This is done in degrees with some having no problem
with a hug or handshake with other women (as long as their wives agree :))
while others are not comfortable with even a handshake. Many, though not
all, Chasidim will refrain from handshakes with women.
And if your receptionist was hot and/or wearing clothing that accented her
hotness, it would only compound the problem. :)
