Sam, I was going to walk away from this thread as just not worth the effort, but ok, since you have posted I will try one more time to get through to you.
First of all, you think the guy that wrote this reads this list. And you accuse *me* of conspiracy theories. Second, you claim offense when Larry makes a joke about the South, yet you feel no reservations about posting really hateful screeds from known extremists here, as though they were some sort of counterbalance to scholarly studies that deal in fact. I could see perhaps disagreeing with certain facts, but how about we deal with that then, instead of posting stuff that calls people whore? Hint, Sam, that's a very offensive word. To follow that up with some sort of pop psychology joke about the alleged mental condition of people who oppose Bush... where to begin. It isn't funny or even slightly amusing to make jokes about people's mental status. Note that I say this as someone who has had half a dozen doctors in the past six months decide that there is nothing wrong with mine. The protocol for interferon calls for psych assessments at the drop of a hat, since one of the side effects is suicide and another is homicide. But it wasn't fun entertaining the possibility that there might be. So excuse me, please, if I am extremely unamused. Hint, Sam, it's a totalitarian tactic to call the people who disagree with you crazy. The Soviets used it to excellent effect. But I forgot. All is well and this is goodthought. To think otherwise is badthought. And I am talking to someone capable of using the term political correctness without the slightest trace of irony. To answer your specific points: I don't think the Geneva Convention is quaint nor do I think that you have to hate Bush to worry about the appointment of the guy who said it is to the highest law enforcement post in the land. Bush personally is irrelevant. His actions however do speak louder than his words. What makes you think that Bin Laden cares what Michael Moore did? To ask you my final question -- cause I am done with you -- why *not* deal in reality? You might like it.
