I'm looking forward to the crack that will allow offline play.

If this means that I need to be connected to the internet while I play the 
game, and this is aside and apart from just
authenticating it, then I'd be more than upset. Especially when Internet 
connection is so spotty over here. If one day I try to play
my game and can't because my net connection is out that would NOT be cool.

I sort of agree with the "can't blame Vivendi" sentiment. But for different 
reasons. I blame Valve for creating Steam and tying the
game so closely to it that it can actually be disabled. Vivendi is using the 
feature, but Valve created it. Bad Valve.

Doesn't it scare anyone else that the game they buy from the store on CD can be 
turned off even for single-player, non-network play?
