Do you already have a PS2? The RPG selection on PS2 dwarfs that of the XBox.
There are several dozen rolepaying games on PS2 compared to only six or seven
on XBox.

Sellers often confuse the fact by listing what I'd call "Adventure" games as
"Role Playing". For example Amazon lists "Lord of the Rings: the Two Towers",
"Minority Report" and "Wolverine's Revenge" as "Role Playing" - they're not.
;^) The "Baldur's Gate" console series is not, in my opinion, a Role Playing
game (although the PC versions defiantely is).

The "Baldur's Gate" games are indeed great games - but essentially hack and
slash adventure (even including jumping puzzles), not role-playing. But then
again if you like "Diablo" you might feel right at home with them. However if
you're used to "Final Fantasy", "Dark Cloud" or "Hack" you just won't find
much, if anything, on the XBox to please.

Still if you're dead set on the getting the XBox and like Roleplaying there are
some great options. "Morrowwind" and "Lord of the Rings: The Third Age" should
both be required purchases. You can also play several great MMORPGs like
"EverQuest" and "Asheron's Call".

The sports games selection is about the same across the two systems, but the
sports games on XBox tend to be those that benefit most from the additional
power it provides.

I don't play sports games but even I can see a significiant difference between
the PS2 and XBox versions of something like Madden (XBox looks quite a bit
better). Also for online play XBox live makes the whole process as painless as
anything - it's significantly easier to play online with Live (although I don't
beleive that EA, publisher of many of the most popular sports games, actually
uses XBox live).
