That's what a friend noted in his dissertation. Women were more likely
to go for help, while men were likely to self medicate - alcohol, then
weed, followed by pills/chemicals of varying kinds. It was only when
things got too severe, or the person went in for some form of
addiction treatment (alcoholism, drug whatever) that the anxiety
disorder was discovered.

My own approach is that intoxicants are nice to do when occasion
warrents, but its a good indicator of your in trouble when you let
them rule your life.
