Well, the British landed before the treaty was signed, and the battle is still considered part of the war as news of the treaty didn't make it back till long after.

Didn't that happen after the treaty was signed? So technically it cannot be included in the War of 1812. Moreover it was peripheral to the main conflict and war aims of the US - conquest of the remaining British North American colonies. If you read some of the writings of the war hawks at the times, the similarities to what Rumsfled and others said about the Iraqi people is rather striking. Same sort of reaction as well. larry ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Special thanks to the CF Community Suite Gold Sponsor - CFHosting.net http://www.cfhosting.net Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:136661 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
