I think I get you now, I'm interested in this for two reasons - there has
been a very good documentary series on BBC Four recently called "The History
of Disbelief" which discussed a lot of the issues about religion and
atheism, there's a site about the program at
http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcfour/documentaries/features/atheism.shtml which
features a quiz.

The second reason is that I am a Buddhist, which is an odd religion in many
ways but especially in that there is no belief in a creator. In fact the
existence of one seems to be incompatible with the idea of Dependant
Arising, which is central to the Buddha's teachings. It's a bit of a tough
one to explain quickly, but basically it's that all that we think of as
"things" exist only as the result of other things, and that nothing
inherently exists. Thats as clear as mud reading it back, if you are
interested I'll try to explain it better tomorrow when I haven't been
working for 12 hours.

No, it's not that argument at all. Complexity isn't a sign of God. My
mortgage process was complex, and I can say with complete certainty that God
had nothing to do with my re-fi.

Jim Campbell's response was very interesting. I think his implication that
maybe the idea of "creation" can't be known by us at this time is
interesting. I think i'm willing to submit that something outside of my
understanding, and maybe human understanding period, prompted creation as we
understand it. I think i'm willing to refer to this process or being or
event or whatever....as God.

Takes all that religious stuff away...but still leaves me with a belief in a
"God".
